Orangutan Foundation

The vision of Orangutan Foundation is that the orangutan and its tropical habitats in Borneo and Sumatra and non-human primates and their habitats and eco-systems, in general, are conserved and appreciated in perpetuity for the wonder, understanding and benefit of current and future generations of mankind.

The mission of Orangutan Foundation is to secure the long-term survival of sufficient viable populations of all genetically distinct species of orangutans in the wild in Borneo and Sumatra, together with their natural habitats, ecosystems and the fauna and flora contained therein. In the broader context, the Foundation contributes to the conservation of all non-human primates and their natural habitats.

Orangutan Foundation is the only organisation to actively work across the entire range of the orangutan. Our prime focus is the preservation of wild populations in their natural habitat but we also care for ex-captive and orphaned orangutans through a comprehensive rehabilitation programme which returns orangutans back to a life in the wild. We support scientific research and have developed a broad network of partner organisations both locally and internationally.
