Stephen Briggs

Stephen Briggs has been cutting his own throat for over a decade and is still not dead. In his guise as Cut Me Own Throat (CMOT) Briggs, he flogs Discworld merchandise to the unsuspecting masses. He's even launching a new discreet Assassins' badge in honour of the Convention. In his guise as himself, he is a civil servant (probably a mild-mannered one, if narrativium gets a say).

Stephen's long and fruitful collaboration with Terry began with the play adaptation of Wyrd Sisters which he staged with the Studio Theatre Club in Oxford in 1991. So far, he has adapted (and staged) sixeen plays. These plays are now performed by amateur dramatics groups all over the world, raising over £60,000 for the Orangutan Foundation.

His own drama club staged his new adaptation of Making Money in November 2007 - only weeks after the novel's release!! Stephen's most memorable role in the Discworld plays has been the Patrician and many fans find it hard to conceive of anyone else as Vetinari.

His written collaborations with Terry include the Discworld Maps, Nanny Ogg's Cookbook and the Discworld Companion and The Ankh-Morpork Post Office Handbook, the Discworld Diary for 2007.

For the last few years, Stephen has been recording the unabridged Pratchett novels for Isis Publishing. He's done fifteen for them, plus another five for the US publisher, Harper Collins. He won an Audie Award (the industry equivalent of the Oscars) for his reading of Monstrous Regiment in 2004 and was nominated again in 2005 for Going Postal. His recording of Thud! was listed in the US Publisher's Weekly 'Listen Up' awards for 2005. For those who haven't yet had the pleasure, the Convention will be your chance to hear Stephen read from the books, among the variety of things he'll be doing there.
