New Conventioneers
If you haven't been to a Discworld Convention before (or perhaps you've never attended any conventions), you might find some of the links below to be particularly useful.
Ask The Question offers an introduction to the experience that is a Discworld Convention and includes some advice and tips that you might find helpful.
We've also gathered together links to other pages from around the site that you might find useful; some of them are out of date, because they refer to the 2006 convention, but we think you will still find them useful in forming a picture of what a Discworld convention is like
- A sample of programme events from 2006
- Links to descriptions of previous Discworld Conventions
- The Online Gallery (with lots of photos from the 2004 and 2006 Conventions)
- An introduction to Gophering - a voluntary role that many previous newcomers found useful as a way of creating introductions and generally easing themselves into an event that encompassed more than 700 people.
If you would like to read more about previous Discworld Conventions, L-Space Web has a large collection of links to personal photo archives and convention reports.
Also remember that there is a convention mailing list available where you can talk to other convention goers - both experienced and inexperienced - as well as LiveJournal and Facebook communities.
Finally, if you think there is any other information that we can publish here specifically for new conventioneers, please let us know.
