Gophering
Gophers are the volunteers who help keep the Convention-show running
smoothly during the weekend. Special skills are not required, and
people can put in as much or as little time as they like.
If you would like to help out as a gopher here's what you do: you either fill in the Gopher Form that was sent out to you, or send an email to volunteers-info@dwcon.org (helpful so that we get some idea of gopher numbers), or you come and find the Master Gophers at the Convention (most likely to be found in the Gopher Hole).
On the form, you will find a list of Gopher types, and you can list any skills that you think would be of benefit to the Convention (e.g., first aid, crowd control, spoon bending using the power of your mind, disabilities helper).
If you do have any special skills (eg. first aid etc.), please ensure that you bring copies of your qualifications with you.
At the Convention, you will be given a gopher badge with which you can indicate whether you are available for gophering or not. When you wear the badge, you may be called upon by the Master Gophers to do any of a myriad of different tasks, from stacking chairs to putting up signs around the hotel.
Apart from the eternal gratitude of the Committee and your fellow Convention-goers, Gophers putting in a certain number of hours will receive an exclusive Gopher badge which will make you the envy of all rodenthood.
Your Convention Needs YOU.
