Sander never went to a Discworld Convention because he somehow didn't know of their existence. When he found out in 2009 he thought it might be fun to register as a member, only to find out that the Concom chair was actually someone he knew from work related meetings. After going to Discworld Convention 2010 he just kept annoying Brian until he was finally accepted into the Discworld Convention 2012 committee as a webmaster.
When not reading books Sander works on internet related things. It's hard to give a better definition... Nothing in a datacenter stays out of his reach. Servers, routers, firewalls, cables... not even software is safe from tinkering. Well, he tries to be more professional than that. He likes going to international meetings and to travel to weird places. IPv6 is another one of his favourite subjects. Those of you who were at the 2010 Thursday Night Quiz might remember Brian blaming someone for all that IPv6 stuff... Guess who that was.
