About the Discworld Convention

If you have chanced upon this web site and are wondering what the Discworld Convention is and what it's all about then you will find the answers to nearly all of your questions by following the links below.

Of course, you may already know you want to attend but have no idea what will be happening, when it will be happening or why it will be happening, read on to find out more...

In basic terms the Discworld Convention is a gathering of fans of Sir Terry Pratchett that happens in the UK once every two years. This is an event organised by the fans themselves and any profit that is made is donated to our nominated charities. In 2012 this will be happening between 24-27 August at the Hilton Metropole in Birmingham.

So what is the Convention all about then and what happens at one? Two very good questions indeed, learn more in this summary "What Can I Expect?"

On the Convention Committee (AKA the ConCom) pages you can meet the Commitee and learn a little more about them (probably more than you ever wanted to know but we do like to share).

The Convention is run entirely by volunteers, the ConCom, and importantly our team of Gophers (volunteers) who help out before, during and after the event, you read about the Gophers on the Gophering page, and Tech volunteering in Ross' excellent article.

Want to know about policies? You can do that on our Policy page.

We are proud of our past and continued charity fundraising and on our charity pages you can learn more about our previous donations and soon the charities we will be supporting in 2012
