The Discworld Convention Charity Auction 2008

Auctioneer: Pat Harkin
Auction Clerk: Richard John Artley
Auction Team: Pat Harkin, Sandra Battye

All proceeds from this Charity Auction will be donated to The Orangutan Foundation and the Starlight Children's Foundation. The Discworld Convention and the Orangutan Foundation gratefully acknowledge the generosity of all donors to, and buyers at, this Charity Auction, and the work of the Auctioneers.

Description Of Lots

The Auctioneers have taken every reasonable precaution to ensure that catalogue descriptions of items are correct: however prospective buyers must satisfy themselves as to authenticity and condition of any items. Viewing is arranged before the Auction and all lots may be inspected (except completed jigsaws). The Convention does not guarantee any item or its provenance. The Auctioneers reserve the right to add, remove, substitute, re-order or re-catalogue items without notice prior to the Auction.

Bidding

Please ensure that you bring your auction bidding paddle, complete with your membership number, to the Auction (paddle replacements can be purchased for £1.00 from Ops). To bid, simply raise the paddle and ensure that the auctioneer sees it. We recommend that when you no longer wish to bid, you lower the paddle. The Auctioneers recognize no other form of bidding. Winning bidders should please keep their paddle raised until their number has been recorded by the Auction Clerk. Then you may lower it (or you'll bid for the next lot).

In certain cases where multiple copies of an item are to be sold, these may either sold separately or on the 'last three (or four, etc.) standing' basis. The method will be announced before each such case. Advance or absentee bidding must be done using the insert form, which should be handed to Ops or the Auction Clerk, at least one hour before the Auction commences. The Auctioneers do not take responsibility for absentee bids, and do not take responsibility for any bid that is not recorded.

Collection

Items should be paid for in full and collected immediately after the Auction or at the allotted time. Early collection is not possible. Late collection (from Ops) should be arranged with the Auctioneers. There is no second auction and unclaimed items will not be reoffered. We know who you are; we'll chase you for payment!

Payment

The Convention will accept:

We do not accept spircles, potatoes, chickens, cowrie shells, cocoa beans, forged Imperial Agatean banknotes, half-obols, funny money with fish on, Discworld stamps, or promissory notes from any deity. We will accept flawless emeralds and big gold bars, which you will never see again, but you will still have to pay for any purchases using conventional Roundworld means.

End Of The Auction

Additional lots may be sold if time allows. The Auctioneers would like to remind all buyers that their purchases should be paid for and collected immediately after the auction or at the allotted time. Thank you all for taking part in The Discworld Convention Charity Auction 2008.

The orangutans would like to say 'Ook' for all the bananas.
